“Studio 2014 is sensibly faster than previous versions of the software! All features get done quicker, especially batch processing. The first overall impression is a ‘wow’ one :-)”
This is just one of the many positive comments that we’ve heard about SDL Trados Studio 2014 in our pre-release phase. It nicely illustrates a key focus area for this release, which was to take Studio’s performance to the next level for a better user experience.
Project managers, translators and reviewers will appreciate improvements in several areas.
Faster project preparation
Batch processing speeds have increased significantly, especially for large projects with multiple files. Depending on your specific project scenario and computer processing power, performance is optimized by three to five times. From analysis to pretranslation to saving files in the Editor, any such operation is now a breeze.
I was impressed when I saw a demo of Studio 2014. It was preparing a project with 46 RESX files and running them against a translation memory of over 40k translation units. The files were prepared in just a few seconds. I am sure that many of you will feel the difference!
Faster file filters
Studio 2014 also introduces performance improvements across several popular file filters – TTX, XLIFF and HTML. Completely revamped, the new file filters are much lighter and more responsive for opening, preparing and saving files.
We’ve also improved selecting multiple segments in the Editor for speeding up segment actions such as locking segments or changing status.
Faster connection to SDL Studio GroupShare
Teams that share linguistic assets will be happy to know that SDL Studio GroupShare 2014 will deliver a much faster server experience. We’ve worked directly with project management and translation teams to tune and optimize the live connection to SDL GroupShare. Whether you’re sharing terminology, translation memories, or entire projects, the user experience has been dramatically improved.
I can’t stress enough the performance that Studio 2014 has made. Watch this short video to get a taste of the Faster Studio 2014.
