I was recently searching the popular translation industry website ProZ.com to see if a member of their community had posted a question on the use of translation software. Without fail I stumbled across the straight forward question ‘Do you use a CAT tool – yes or no?’. Eureka! The poll received 1770 votes and over 75% of the voters overwhelmingly selected yes.
Today, technology plays an integral role in the translation process, but how much of their translation software do they actually use?
This directed me to a further piece of research by the IDC who suggested that only 13% of users take full advantage of the features available in their software tools, meaning 87% of users are not utilizing their investment!
This is where SDL Trados Studio training plays its part. Training workshops delivered by the NCTA and the translation software approved expert Tuomas Kostiainen, help users discover productivity enhancing features such as SDL AutoSuggest and machine translation, it also empowers a translator to talk confidently with clients about translation software knowing they have picked up the vital skills from an approved trainer.
I hope you can join the NCTA and Tuomas for these invaluable workshops in San Francisco and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or join me or the NCTA on Twitter.
