I can’t quite believe it’s already been a year since ATA 56 in Miami, but here we are, one week away from another exciting event with over 1800 translation professionals. This year’s event is being held in San Francisco and so you’re not left ‘sitting at the dock of the bay’, we’ve got 5 suggestions for you whilst you are attending ATA 57.
1.Visit Alcatraz Island
Hop on a ferry to Alcatraz Island and explore the USA’s first military prison, which was a maximum-security penitentiary. See where notorious criminals such as Al Capone, James ‘Whitey’ Bulger and George ‘Machine Gun’ Kelly all served as inmates. If you are thinking of visiting Alcatraz during your time in San Francisco, booking in advance is usually advised.
2.See the Golden Gate Bridge
If you were to ask most people what they think of when they’re asked about San Francisco, 9 times out of 10 that person would say the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the ‘7 Wonders of the Modern World’ and is known for being the most photographed bridge in the world, so don’t forget to get a selfie.
3.Play the SDL Tram Game
Visit our booths at ATA 57 and play our ’10 easy steps to translation’ tram game. Think you know the 10 steps to translate a single document in SDL Trados Studio? Correctly match the steps with each of the 10 tram stops, share your completed image using #SDLTramGame and you could win a Garmin Vívosmart HR fitness tracker.
4. SDL Trados Studio 2017 demos and Tool Support
Come and visit us at booths 25-28 and 39-42 and watch our demos of the upcoming release of SDL Trados Studio 2017, with new features including AdaptiveMT and upLIFT technology.
Additionally, if you would like some one-on-one assistance with SDL Trados Studio, visit our booth and Paul Filkin will be happy to answer any technical questions you might have.
5. Visit the Job Fair
Looking for work? Visit SDL at the Job Fair on Thursday 3 November, 6-8pm to discuss our current job listings. Visit the Job Fair page for more information: http://www.atanet.org/conf/2016/jobfair/
