The way we communicate is changing. New languages are constantly emerging and as a company we pride ourselves on keeping up with language trends. So today, on April 1st, we are pleased to announce that SDL Trados Studio 2014 fully supports ‘Emoji.’
A world first…
SDL Trados Studio is the world’s first CAT tool to support Emoji, the hieroglyphics of our generation. Whilst you make think Emoji is not a ‘real’ language, you might be interested to know that ‘Moby Dick’ has been translated into 260 languages, including Emoji. With more and more requests from companies to translate into Emoji, this is just the start of a 2015 boom for the emerging language.
A word from our VP, Massimo Ghislandi
The first Emoji was written in 1999 and has picked up steam in recent years, in line with the smartphone savvy millennial generation. Our VP for Translation Productivity, Massimo Ghislandi is very excited about this announcement, stating “We’ve been inundated with requests from the translation community regarding support for Emoji. The language is now a trend we cannot ignore and I’m delighted to see you all translating into Emoji using SDL Trados Studio 2014.” He went on to mention “I’m an Emoji lover myself, frequently using them on my phone, so it was only a matter of time before there was a mainstream use for them”
